FAQ about the IMPROVERSITY Method
Is this a school?
No, not at all. We do not teach grammar, how it is usually happens in the courses - we hone it! People in the native language make a lot of mistakes, so grammar is not the main thing. In our method, the main thing is freedom of communication, overcoming barriers and fear!
Who is this Method for?
This method is designed for all those, who already understand English, but can't speak well. The main criteria is that a person is not satisfied with their level of speaking excellence.
If your students have a problem with speaking - it's the best tool to gain results and step up to the next level.Is this a Speaking club?
If it is implied that there will be the practice of speaking - yes! This is not a typical speaking club, because the methodology is developed by a man who has been practicing improv comedy for the last 12 years and has used applied improv in many corporate business development institutions. So, to avoid misinterpretation and due to the fact that the term “speaking club” is loosely used, defining low and cheap quality, we prefer to call it “Improv Speaking Club” or an “English Intensive”. And yes, all communication is in English only!
Is this a theater club?
This is including :) The methodology is really based on scenarios of improvisation theater, using the principles and know-how of the art of improv. In fact, you can call it this way, as long as you understand that you don't teach students "to play" or “to act”, you give them skills for life and the emphasis is on freedom of thinking and speaking in English.
Will students need to record something?
We are sure that who wishes to improve their skills to speak the language and taking into account the fact that it (new knowledge) always happens in the process of the session, will always find something to note and write down. However, writing and taking notes are not mandatory.
Is there a curriculum?
Not really. The method is based on a tested set of improv activities, which are used in different order to achieve the desired results. So, in the conventional sense, there is no curriculum, but there is a specific philosophy and mechanics of teaching behind the method which is available in the manual for Trainers.
